Personal Statement
- I live in Quito, Ecuador, a country where swimming has not been yet developed to its fullest potential. I have had the opportunity to train in a private club for more than 6 years and as a sophomore to participate in the Ecuadorian Nationals (2019). I also qualified to south american games as a 14 year old. I have encountered challenges throughout my JUNIOR year because of the pandemic. My country did not have the resources to control covid thus closed all pools for more than a year. I have had to stop swimming for 16 moths and I am working on getting back. I will focus my Senior year to get back in shape, and hopefully drop my times. I would love to get an opportunity to train in a university where the installations and resources permit me reach my full potential in swimming. In Ecuador few athletes pursue swimming in college so it would be a really good opportunity to demonstrate my country that pursuing swimming in college is a possibility. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I might have not had the opportunity to demonstrate all my potential before going to college, but that is what I want to explore and share, my character, perseverance an optimism will allow me to recover and achieve great things for my country and my future university. I believe it is important to demonstrate that I will be a consistent, grateful and motivated student athlete that will bring emotion and motivation to your team!
