Personal Statement
Hey, my name is Ellie! I’m an 11th grader in my final year of high school, and I’m excited to take the next step in my swimming journey at the collegiate level. Growing up on the small island of Antigua which is just 108 square miles with only one 25-meter pool and training six sessions a week with limited flexibility, I’ve learned how to make the most of every opportunity. These challenges have shaped my resilience, creativity, and unwavering work ethic which are qualities that helped me compete on the Olympic stage.
What sets me apart is my ability to thrive despite limitations, my dedication to constant improvement, and my adaptability in overcoming challenges. At just 16 years old, I’ve balanced rigorous training with academics, excelling in both while staying focused on my goals. My passion for swimming has driven me to dream big.I aim to break the world records in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.
I’m also deeply team-oriented, coachable, and committed to pushing myself and those around me to succeed. I’m ready to bring my determination, adaptability, and passion to a college program that values hard work and perseverance as much as I do. As I am graduating in 2025, I’m eager to jump right into college and embrace the next chapter of my swimming career.
