Personal Statement
I’ve been swimming since before I was a year old. Since I first started learning to swim, I have aspired to be the best that I can be. After learning to swim in the pool as a toddler, I went on to swim in open water for about 3 years before moving on to swim with a competitive team in a pool. I completed my first swim meet at the age of 7 but I didn’t have a competitive nature as a child and I was not motivated to compete. I stayed on the competitive team for a while but only trained with them. Shortly after, I got bored and decided to focus on ballet instead until I gained confidence to return to swimming.
In 2019 at age 12 I began asking my mom to return to swimming. I was scheduled to start in April of 2020 but the covid pandemic occurred and there was no swimming for 2 years. When I was able to swim again, I went back to my old team. Shortly after returning to my old team, it slowly fell apart losing all its members thus forcing me to join another team.
Since being on my present team I have grown a lot as a swimmer and have dropped a large amount of time on all of my events. I strive to be a role model to the younger swimmers so they don’t follow the bad habits of some of my teammates. I am committed, dedicated and determined to give my all into this sport.
