Personal Statement
I started swimming at a young age in order to learn water safety like my older sister however, I only started competitively swimming when I was 13 years old. Even with all the time, effort and hardships that I have experience within the sport, I found the love for it and would love to achieve my goals and continue to pursue the sport in university.
Living in South Africa, I know that traveling across the world to swim and study is a life-changing opportunity and I would be overjoyed to achieve such an opportunity.
I am extremely competitive in everything I do, whether its in the pool, in the classroom or on the sports field. I have represented my county in several competitions. I traveled to Mauritius and Malawi for CANA Zone 4 competitions and Italy for the Tri-Colour Games. I am constantly competing with myself to better my times and even in my deepest periods, I persevere to get back up and get stronger.
I am a team leader who tries to lead by example and encourage the people around me. I was voted to become an exec of my school as well as be on the student representative council. As a board member of our schools Interact club, I enjoy giving back to the community by doing community service by myself and with my school.
I pick up on things quickly and am very coachable. This helps with my determination to always do better and work harder for what I want to achieve.
I want to attend a university that pushes me both physically and mentally, in both the pool and in my academics. I am open to all options and want to find the right university at the highest level of competition possible.
I strive to achieve my goal and make my family proud and become an inspiration to my peers.
