Personal Statement
I have always had a huge passion for swimming and I was inspired to start swimming competitively at 9 years old, after watching and supporting my older sister race. I have always looked up to my sister, as she is the one who gave me confidence to step out of my comfort zone in the first place, and I am very glad I did!
I have learnt that having a growth mindset is one of the most important attributes an athlete can have, and having this allows me to develop as a swimmer. As a result, I am coachable and eager to receive feedback from my coaches and peers. I like to encourage my teammates, especially during a tough training session, to help motivate them and create a positive team atmosphere. I always give 100% of myself in training and I love to be pushed, as I believe this gives me the best chance to improve as an athlete and achieve my goals.
Outside of swimming I enjoy cycling, and ride about 60 miles most Saturday afternoons with my dad. One summer my family and I cycled from one side of Britain to the other, and back again, it was an amazing experience and great to complete the challenge. To relax, I enjoy playing the piano and baking as I love creating new tasty recipes.
My academic goal for high school is to achieve a degree in design, as I really enjoyed the creative element of my Design Technology GCSE. I am particularly interested in Interior Design.
I work as hard in the classroom as I do in the pool, as I believe that being fully committed to what you do, and always trying your best, will produce results, and that for me is what makes the successes so meaningful.
