Personal Statement
I have been swimming for as long as I can remember, and I genuinely love this sport. Swimming provided me with the opportunity to meet people from around the world, to make memories, and to enjoy and savor the feeling of watching all the hard work you put into swim practice pay off! It has always been a goal and dream of mine to continue swimming and compete in America at a collegiate level.
I am an incredibly focused and motivated swimmer and student, and whenever possible, I strive to motivate and support my teammates. The swim club where I currently swim is extremely tight-knit, and no matter how different we are, we support one another. Hopefully, I can bring some of that closeness to the college swim team!
Although balancing school and swimming has always been challenging, I have developed valuable time management skills that have helped me maintain a high GPA and start clubs and projects of my own! For example, I am a founder and leader of the EGGS (empower generations of girls in STEM) club that aims to help the high schoolers and middle schoolers at my school build confidence in themselves before becoming a male-dominated field. Through EGGS, participating in numerous honor bands, and being part of my school's ambassadors program, I have learned the value of teamwork despite the performance being individual.
I would love to attend a school where I can be pushed academically and feel a sense of competition and community in that college's swim team.
