Personal Statement
Even though I am not the best at swimming, I always knew I had a passion for it. I still think it is not enough with the challenges I have endured and the small victories I accomplished therefore being recruited by one of your colleges in my belief will help me develop my swimming further and also help me gain the strength and motivation to keep me going. As a swimmer from the Philippines, it is quite hard to develop my skills to their full potential with the limited sports- assets here, therefore I am willing to take up the challenge of swimming in the United States of America at one of your colleges to further help me improve in my skills. I see myself in the future swimming even though I am currently not the best in my age group, however, you can all guarantee that I am willing to train as hard as I can with your specific programs and your guidance. You can also guarantee that I will work hard to represent your college the best I can therefore have 101% of my cooperation and willingness to work hard. When things get challenging, I always make sure to put my foot down and push through it with perseverance and passion. Connecting this idea to swimming, I found myself going through obstacles such as, not being number 1 in my age group or even placing at all or getting injured where I had to stop swimming and had to build my progress from the ground up all over again, these are just some of the challenges I went through and I was able to get through them. Since I am from the Philippines, I hope to given a scholarship to give me the opportunity to swim in your schools and contribute as much I could to the team. As a former team captain of my varsity team, I learned that uplifting your teammates and motivating each other help a team grow, I wish to contribute these experiences to help me connect with the team I am going to be apart of. Lastly, I can guarantee you one thing, even though I am not the best, swimming is my passion and that will never change, I am constantly finding ways to improve, therefore I hope I can swim for one of your colleges one day and meet you in person, thank you!!
