Personal Statement

My name is Ela, and I'm 17 years old. I'm currently in the senior year of high school in Croatia. I cannot imagine my life without swimming, the pool is my happy place. I've been a member of a swimming club since I was 7. Over the last seven years, I have swum every day except Sundays. I travel to the swimming pool, which is one hour away from my home. I believe this demonstrates my motivation and dedication. 

The highlight of my swimming career was winning the silver medal in the 50 meters backstroke at the long course National Championship for seniors in 2023. 

In addition to swimming, I attend one of the most prestigious schools in Zagreb and successfully manage to balance both aspects of my life. As part of a class for chemical technicians, my interests lie in the fields of biology and chemistry, particularly focusing on microbiology, cellular biology, genetics, and forensic chemistry.

My greatest wish is to combine my love for swimming and biology in a college that offers excellent conditions for both, as I have heard is possible in the USA. I hope that you will consider me as a valuable future member of your swimming team and college.
