Hello, my name is Grace Nordquist. I am currently swimming on the Iowa Central Community College women's swim team in Fort Dodge, Iowa. This will be my second and final year at Iowa Central (2017-18). Thus, I am searching for colleges to continue my education at, as well as my swimming career. My planned major is Communications, and I will graduate from Iowa Central with my AA Degree in the Spring of 2018.
What I look for in a college is somewhere reasonably close to home (Panora, IA), where I will get a degree that will prepare me for my future, meet friends and teammates that will become my family away from home, and strengthen my relationship with God. I consider myself to be a leader and a "team player." I'll do what is asked of me, even if that does mean swimming the 400 IM. As a student I take my schoolwork seriously and am always striving to do my best in the classroom. I'm an outgoing and social individual who likes to have fun, but also works hard and is very competitive. I also strive to keep a positive mindset and attitude in every situation.
In high school I swam the 100 butterfly and any and all freestyle (up to the 500). This trend continued at Iowa Central, although adding distance towards the end of my freshman year. Coming off an injury, it was a slow start to my freshman year. At first I was only cleared to swim freestyle, and then towards the middle of the season butterfly as well. I swam the 100 and 200 fly and mainly sprint freestyle until the end of the season, when I swam my first ever mile. My second mile and first ever 1000 would be at nationals. This upcoming season I plan to continue swimming butterfly and distance, and anything else the coach sees fit for me to swim.
I have enjoyed my time at Iowa Central thus far and hope to find a school and and a team to make my new home.
Phil. 4:13, Glory to God. Thank you for your time and consideration.
