I enjoy swimming for the feeling of accomplishment it provides me. Whether it be the physical benefits of a good workout, the reward of a time drop at a meet, or a long weekend spent on deck supporting my team; swimming gives me satisfaction. Swimming has shaped me into the person I am today. I am dedicated, resilient, and easy to work with. I value the strong relationships I have built with teammates and coaches and feel they are unreplicable to this day. I look forward to these similar experiences and relationships at the collegiate level.
Helping others is important to me and for that, I am seeking a career in nursing. This discovery came to me when I accompanied my mom on a medical mission to the Philippines. I assisted by playing with patients in the pediatric oncology ward and holding the children as they were put under anesthesia for cleft palate surgery. I saw firsthand how a few dedicated and trained professionals really can change the lives of so many and realized that I could also one day make a difference.
