I am the oldest of 4 children, I have one younger sister and 2 younger brothers. My family is second only to my Faith. We are close knit and the support I receive is from immediate and extended family who help encourage me to excel in school and in swimming.
My Catholic Faith is an integral part of my life and it is through Christ that I am able to push through the plateaus and find joy in the hard times. I am not afraid to stand up for my faith and what I believe in even when it has challenging outcomes.
I am currently a junior at Mercy High school in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Coming out of my freshman year High School season I knew one thing for certain, I wanted to swim in college.
I love the sport but also love the team aspect, encouraging others and watching everyone improve brings me so much joy. I also strive to be there for all of my teammates if they are having a tough day or if they miss that cut but just a hundredth of a second.
I love the challenge of the sport and working to do better everyday. I feel proud when I finish the hard sets and I am proud of my team during them. I started swimming competitively with Club Wolverine in Ann Arbor, Michigan when I was 7. I co-won states at 8 with my teammate Kylie Evenson and then once again at 10 we took the 10& U state title. These were amazing moments in my career but 2 of the highlights were not related to winning at all. In 2014 and 2017 I was awarded the Club Wolverine SNIK 3D award. This is given by the coaches to the athletes that they feel demonstrates the 3 Ds, dedication, determination and desire.
My goal as a college athlete is to become the best version of myself in and out of the water. To inspire others to follow their dreams by being an example at the school I choose. Being a college swimmer is a big aspiration of mine and many know this about me. I would love to show people that you can do whatever you put your mind to as long as you train hard and believe in yourself.
There have been a few people that have made me the person I am today. My great-grandmother is one of these people because she taught me to always trust in God and to respect others with a smile. My mom encouraged me to be myself and to never hide it. Lastly, my family friend, Jimmy King taught me the importance my mindset in and out of the water and how it affects me and my performance.
I always give 110% at practice and will never give up on myself or my team.
I want to study communications and political science and I dream to be a sportscaster one day, who specializes in swim! I cannot wait to continue my education while I continue to swim, my favorite thing to do.
