Hello, my name is Madelyn Usher. I’ve been swimming since I was 8 years old and transitioned onto a more competitive team when I was 13 years old. When I was younger I never thought this is what my heart would lead me to. I had played softball as my other main sport up until I realized swimming was my sport. As I transitioned into a more competitive environment I figured out swim isn't always easy but it’s what my heart was set on. This sport has helped me create new relationships and pushed me to work harder than ever before. It has, however, been the most rewarding experience of my life. A big goal of mine is to constantly improve and push myself to go harder everyday. I know that success comes with hard work and I always look up to my idols and their work ethic to get me through hard sets so I reach my full potential.
Outside of the pool I like to be involved in various activities. A few of the things I enjoy is being the field crew with my grandpa at the softball fields and helping teach swim lessons in my club. In addition to my outside activities, I make school and studying a major priority, and I’m in my school’s National Honors Society. I find myself applying many lessons to my everyday life. I’m very excited to continue my academic and swimming career at the collegiate level.
