Personal Statement

Dear Coaches,

I am writing to express my sincere interest in joining your collegiate swimming team while pursuing studies in Biomedical Engineering. From a young age, my passion for swimming has been a driving force in my life, and I am eager to continue this journey at the collegiate level. Simultaneously, my love for Science and Math has led me to aspire towards a post-doctoral degree in Biomedical Engineering, a field that merges my academic interests with my desire to make a meaningful impact on healthcare.

My dedication to both swimming and academic pursuits sets me apart as a prospective candidate for your team. The 100 Butterfly, 200, 100 and 50 Free events have been my favorite challenges, allowing me to showcase my skills and determination in the pool. I believe that my commitment to excellence in these events, combined with my genuine passion for the sport, aligns seamlessly with the values of your esteemed program.

What distinguishes me from other recruits is my ability to balance rigorous academics with the demanding schedule of competitive swimming. In the 9th grade, I completed Calculus as part of the Advanced Talented Youth Program at Western Michigan University (WMU). This early exposure to advanced coursework not only reflects my academic aptitude but also underscores my commitment to pushing beyond conventional boundaries in pursuit of excellence.

Furthermore, my parents, both Engineers, have instilled in me the importance of applying analytical thinking to real-world challenges. Following in their footsteps, I am determined to contribute to the field of Biomedical Engineering, where I see an opportunity to merge my analytical mindset with my passion for making a positive impact on healthcare.

In conclusion, my unique combination of academic drive, dedication to swimming, and a passion for Engineering makes me a standout candidate for your team. I am excited about the prospect of contributing both athletically and academically to your program, and I believe that my commitment to excellence will not only enhance the team's performance but also contribute to the overall success of your collegiate program.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to the success of your team and fulfill my collegiate goals.

Sincerely,

Ariana Amaro
