Since beginning to swim at age 10, I knew I wanted to swim at a collegiate level someday. Going to practice after practice each day has shown me the benefits of working hard; in the pool and in relationships in my life. I learned that the harder you work at something, the easier it gets the next day. I push myself to train hard each day by coming to practices and competitions with a positive attitude.
When I began to realize the love I had for swimming, I decided to join my local swim team, the Rockford Riptide. During meets with that team, I swam at many Michigan state meets, finishing in the top for several short course breaststroke events. Through U.S.A swimming, I was able to compete at a Zone meet as well. I also qualified for a Sectionals meet and a Futures meet.
Being a part of my high school swim team is one of the things I am most appreciative and proud of in my life. Through all of our combined efforts as a team, we continuously perform successfully at the meets we attend. I, myself, try to stay positive around my team and show kindness to everyone. I think that talent, as well as character, builds a team to be the best it can be.
I hope that someday soon I will be able to attend a university to pursue my educational and swimming dreams. I plan to do this with a determined and strong work ethic as well as devotion to my current studies and swimming career.
