Joann Oyemba '24 Recruiting Profile

To whom it may concern,

My name is Joann Ngahan Oyemba. I am pretty sure a lot would wonder about my unique name. My parents are first generation immigrants from Cameroon and Gabon. The latter are 2 small countries in West Africa. I have been blessed to grow up in the household where hard work was the expectation. My parents taught me the values of kindness, the pursuit of your dreams through resilience and networking. I have embodied those values by thriving at school and continuing to grow in a sport that is not quite pursue by minority groups. If chosen to compete in any schools, and any sports, I know not to take the opportunity for granted. In addition, succeeding academically is the ultimate goal in entering adulthood.
