My name is Samantha Bullard and I have been swimming for USA Swimming since I was 9 years old. I love the feeling of getting up on the blocks and focusing and racing. I love the feeling of beating the person next to me. I love the feeling of looking over the side of the pool and seeing my coaches and teammates cheering for me. It is an amazing feeling to have the people you suffer with every day and who know you better than anyone, cheering you on. I love the feeling of working hard in the morning and the feeling of accomplishment at the start of my day.
I am also a musician. I have been playing violin since I was 5 years old and have continued to play despite the challenges that being a dedicated swimmer and musician have posed. The dedication and discipline I learned in the pool and applied in music helped me win the freshman orchestra award and be selected to the top orchestra at my high school.
I am also a good student in the classroom. I hold myself to a very high standard in every aspect of my life and school is very important to me. This dedication has lead me to the gold honor roll and National Honor Society I am committed to staying there.
I am also a dedicated teammate. One thing I love about swimming in high school is the team aspect and that is one reason I want to swim in college. I was elected captain of my high school team and I love to cheer on my teammates and praise them when they get their cut and be there for them when they miss their cut. I love the tight knit community of high school swimming and having my closest friends be my teammates. Being a part of something bigger than myself when we are all working towards one goal is something I live for.
