My dad firmly believes in the idea that every kid should play a sport of some kind. When I was young, I tested a multitude of activities - dance, tennis, basketball, but the one that really stuck out to me was swimming. The competitiveness and challenge of the sport was enticing to me. I loved, and still love, the feeling of accomplishment after completing a difficult set or racing a best time. The way my throat would hurt after screaming “GO GO GO!!” at my teammates during their events, how my heart would race in anticipation of seeing who would be out-touched in a close race, was addicting. Swimming has also allowed me to develop my leadership skills and has tested my own determination and resolve. Socially, I have become less reserved and am more willing to put myself out there, which would have been impossible only a few years ago. I am constantly being pushed to grow and become a better person due to this sport, which is why swimming in college is not only a desire, but a dream. I am eager to learn from college coaches, and show what I have to offer.
