Hi, My name is Emily Hopkins. I'm a Senior at Old Bridge High School in Old Bridge, New Jersey, and swim for the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County, as well as the Old Bridge High School swim team. I have been swimming competitively year-round for 6 years and prior to swimming, I was a competitive dancer. What started as a fun, summer sport for me, quickly developed into a strength and passion of mine, and I knew I wanted to develop and grow as a swimmer. I knew starting competitive swim later might put me at a disadvantage, but I didn't let that stop me. I put the work in, trained hard, kept my focus and welcomed the feedback from my coaches and peers to help me achieve my goal. I have also been swimming at the Varsity level for my high school team since Freshman Year. I currently hold the record for the 100 backstroke, and I was on the record-breaking 200 Freestyle and 400 Freestyle relay teams. I have been recognized as Division All-Star, and an All-Conference Team member for the 2021-2022 Season, and high point scorer for the team. My competitive spirit, focus, strong work ethic and desire for constant improvement have been integral in shaping me into the athlete I am today.
Swimming at the collegiate level is a dream of mine. I am looking for a school that would be both academically and athletically challenging. This would allow me the opportunity to pursue my education, while challenging myself athletically as part of a team.
