My name is Summer Sakowicz and I have been swimming competitively since I was 5 years old. I was a two-sport travel athlete, swimming competitively and playing soccer, before making the decision to pursue swimming full-time during my freshman year of high school. Sports have had such a positive impact on me as they've taught me the importance of time management and enjoying the camaraderie of being on a team. Academics are also very important to me, as I’ve worked to maintain a high GPA throughout all of high school. Swimming has provided me with a sense of balance in my life. I have an immense love and respect for the water, which has allowed me to combine that with my summer job of being an ocean lifeguard at the Jersey Shore. It gives me a great sense of pride knowing I am making a positive impact on my community. Swimming has also given me the opportunity to be a mentor, as I am able to coach the younger swimmers of my team.
I am looking forward to being challenged in both the pool and classroom. I am prepared to put in the time and hard work needed to pursue my academic and athletic career in college.
