Personal Statement

Just tell me I can’t accomplish my goals, tell me you can beat me, tell me that I don’t have what it takes. Fighting an uphill battle is a challenge that I continue to thrive off of. If it’s in swimming or in the classroom I’m determined to prove to you that you can’t hold me back. I’m looking for a place to further my knowledge and showcase my athletic skills. I want to be challenged as much as I possibly can be.

As I continue on my path in life I want it to include the things I love to do. Athletics let me express my competitive spirit. I was told that I could not make Senior level times when I just turned thirteen, but proved everyone wrong just a few months later. I did this by qualifying in one of the most difficult events in the pool, the mile. I was told that I wasn’t strong enough to swim the 400 Individual Medley and again proved people wrong by qualifying in this event at Seniors as well and continuing to improve on my AAA time in that event. I was told that I could not win conference as a Freshman, but after working extremely hard I earned first place honors in the 500 freestyle. In the classroom I was told I ask too many questions and should not be in honors classes. Not only did I handle the honors classes in English, Biology, and Geometry, all while having extra classes in place of study halls, I continue earning straight A’s in those and all of my classes. I’ll prove people wrong again by being a two sport athlete in swimming and track while also remaining to be involved in Student Council, Legacy Club, and soon National Honor Society.

I perform my best when there is a challenge. I take those moments as opportunities to shine and prove any doubters wrong. I am up to any challenge that may come my way and won't let anything stand between me and my rising goals.

Events

  • NC SCY Senior Championship, NC Senior Sectionals, Tar Heel State Meet
  • 2/15/18 to 2/18/18
  • Overall, I had a very successful end to my short course season. Across the board, i was able to improve in many events and drop in many as well. At the Tar Heel State Meet, I swam the 100 fly(1:03.02), 100 back(1:00.16), 100 breast(1:08.49), and the 100 free(54.16), with best times in all four events. During Senior Sectionals, I dropped almost four full seconds to go a 2:06.97 in my 200 back nearly missing my future cut. At Senior Champs, I dropped in my 50 free(25.63), and maintained the same time on all my other events. Each weekend I finaled and help score points for my team to place. I am very excited to start long course season.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2017 GSC Holiday Classic
  • 11/30/17 to 12/03/17
  • I was able to attend this meet along with other members of the Swimmac Carolina team. I competed in the 200 Free, 500 Free, 1650 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Back, 200 IM, and 400 IM. I qualified for finals in several events and improved my times in the 200 backstroke, 400 Indivdual Medley, and the 1650. Overall, I was happy with how I swam and I am looking forward to improving in other events at Seniors and Sectionals in the spring of 2018.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2017 MN UOFM Speedo Sectionals Section 1
  • 7/19/17 to 7/22/17
  • I attended the Speedo Sectional meet held at the University of Minnesota in July as part of an 18 member team from Barrington Swim Club. I was on the 800 Free Relay where I swam a lifetime best of 2:11.68, the 400 Medley relay where my breast split was the fastest of the season and the 800M Free and 1500M Free. In both of those events I swam lifetime best times. I dropped 21.85 seconds and placed 18th in the 800M Free and I dropped 14.50 seconds in the 1500M where I placed 10th. It was a fun experience and I look forward to swimming even more events in the spring of 2018
  • Camp/Event
  • 2017 Il LC Senior Championship
  • 7/13/17 to 7/16/17
  • I swam only four events at this meet (200 Free, 200 IM, 400 Free, 400 IM) as my focus was the summer LC Speedo Sectional meet in Minneapolis Mn the following week. I swam a best time in my 200 Free and 400 IM on Friday where I qualified for finals in the 400 IM, again swimming a best time and missed the sectional cut by 1 second. I also qualified for finals in the 400 Free on Saturday where I swam right on my time. All in all I was happy with how I swam at this meet and I am looking forward to swimming this week in Minneapolis!

I qualified for finals in the 400 Free and 400 IM improving on the best times that I posted in the prelims placing 14th in the 400m Free and 17th in the 400m IM. I swam a best time in the 1500m Free on Sunday to place 10th in the state. Despite not being able to swim the 800, I competed in a total of 5000 meters in three days not including warming up or cooling down. I was happy that with all of that distance, I was able to swim 6 best times over three days including my last event of the weekend, the 1500m Free. I turned 15 on July 21st and was unable to compete in the MegaZone meet held at IUPUI Natatorium where I had qualified in 10 events.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE.
