2022 SpotlightPersonal Statement
My name is Arleigh and I am currently a Senior on the Elida High School Varsity swim team and Lima Barracudas Club team. My love of swimming started when I was 4 years old. I started on a summer club swim team at 6 years old and I have been swimming competitively on multiple teams ever since. I love the structure that swimming brings to my life and along with the coaches who push me to become better and the teammates that make practice fun. I am a dedicated swimmer that takes every opportunity available to improve. I stay focused in school by paying attention to the details just as I do in the pool. I maintain high grades and like to challenge myself academically by taking advanced courses in high school. In the pool, I model to the younger swimmers what it means to listen to the coaches, pay attention to the details, and show a love of my team and sport. My goal is to be part of a strong swim program at a school that will help me become successful in my future.

- As an elite-level butterflier or backstroker, Total Performance provides an intensive five-day, overnight training program focusing on the most profound development of the last quarter century in the sport of competitive swimming – the underwater dolphin kick – or what has been called the “5th stroke.” A critical element to one’s success in butterfly and backstroke is becoming more effective in generating speed & efficiency underwater. Challenging practice sessions focus on the latest in butterfly/backstroke technique and race strategy. During the week you will be tested in a dozen different areas that contribute to success as a flyer or backstroker.
