I began swimming when I was just about 12 years old, and ever since the moment I jumped into the water, I have had a burning passion and love for the sport that continues to grow stronger each day. I began my swimming career at a local YMCA, and after my first year, I transferred to training with the USA Swimming club team, Lake Erie Silver Dolphins, at Spire Institute Olympic Training Center in Geneva, Ohio. I have always known that I wanted to swim at the collegiate level and I know that the opportunity to compete at that level would be a once in a lifetime opportunity to continue pursuing my swimming career.
Others, as well as myself, would describe my personality as being charismatic, open-minded, and dedicated, and I like to keep a joyful mentality as I believe an optimistic mind can get through any hardship. It is humbling to be considered a leader by both my peers and mentors, and I take that label to heart. I have been the captain of my high school swim team since I was a freshman and continue to push my teammates to be better than their best self both in and out of the pool. This sport is my life and everyday I continue to work harder and harder so that I can make my dreams a reality, and I can guarantee anyone that that will never change.
I believe I would make a great addition to any team as I am a highly competitive, team oriented athlete that can take criticism and grow from it. I will live up to any leadership position I am called to and will perform in any area whether in the pool or out with immense work ethic. Ever since I have been in school, I have consistently challenged myself in the classroom and have been successful, which can be proven by my 4.3 GPA and by my past and current courses at the highest levels available, including 3 AP courses which I am currently studying. Also, I am fluent in both English and Spanish, and I have been studying Italian for the last 2 years. For the rest of my high school career, academically my goals include staying at the top of my class and graduating with honors. Athletically, my goals include placing at the state level and qualifying for multiple USA Swimming national meets.
It would be ideal to attend a college where I can not only grow as an athlete, but as an overall person. I want to be pushed both in the classroom and pool, and am open to any options that will allow me do so at the highest level possible. With my leadership, work ethic, and optimism I believe I would fit in with any team and be a strong addition. Thank you for reading my profile.
