My name is Ava Shardo and I am currently a junior at Versailles High School.
My sophomore season ended with many of my goals met and definite opportunities for growth. I finished my high school season as a state qualifier in the D2 OHSAA State Swim meet in the 100 fly, 100 backstroke, and both the 200 medley and freestyle relays. I also qualified for the National YMCA Short Course Swimming Championship meet in the 50 freestyle.
I have a strong desire to compete and to perform to the best of my ability in all strokes. While there is room for improvement to better my times and to make myself a stronger swimmer, I am willing to put in the extra effort to meet these higher standards that I have set for myself. A few goals I hope to achieve this season include winning my conference individually and as a team, as well as advancing to the state and national level. My plan is to swim collegiately, while also pursuing a degree in dentistry. My academics are extremely important to me and I hope to attend a university that equalizes both academics and athletics.
While my goals are very personalized to me, I am a very team oriented person and believe that an athlete is nothing without their coach and fellow players. I am working towards a successful junior and senior season in hopes of obtaining my new goals.
