I started swimming and racing competitively when I was 6 or 7 years old and I haven't stopped since then. Swimming started out as a safe place that I felt most at ease in, and gradually turned into a sport that allows me to constantly find ways to be better and refine my skills both in and out of the water. Swimming is a tough sport and over the years it has taught me discipline, responsibility, determination, teamwork, and dedication that has not only helped me as an athlete but as a student as well. I work hard in and out of the water to achieve my goals and work on the areas I need to improve in. When faced with a challenge, I will always find a way to work harder and excel, whether that means extra training or more focus on an area. I may always try to persevere in training, but I enjoy every part of it and have fun along the way.
Balancing a schedule with training, academics, and music wasn't easy, but I've learned how to use my time wisely and have disciplined myself to reach all my goals and always move forwards with everything I do. I want to continue my academics and swimming in a university where I can continue to utilize and enhance the skills I've gained on my journey throughout elementary and high school, while also setting greater goals and reaching higher levels.
I play the violin. I've played violin for 8 years and I'm RCM Level 10. I've also played First Violin in a youth orchestra for 5 years.
