Sophia Mazurkiewicz '27 Recruiting Profile

I have been swimming competitively with my club for 9 years, and it has become my passion. I attend a small high school in Oregon that has a very limited variety of sports for kids to play, even though the school is very highly regarded in football and baseball. I had always wanted to swim in high school, so not swimming was out of the picture, which lead to me starting my schools very own swim team for my high school. For the first year I was a one-person team, but still managed to place 3rd in the district individually. This year, I hope to build the team and share the amazing opportunity I have created with other students. I believe the most important part of a sport is building a good team relationship, and i believe through a supportive team, you can build strong individuals. Even in a solo sport like swimming, having each other's back is very important. I work hard in swimming, while also playing water polo and doing CrossFit for strength building. I also work hard academically and have a 4.0 GPA, as well as taking many honors and accelerated classes, leading to AP classes.
