From a very young age, the desire to compete and win was deep within my heart. My parents will tell you they cannot remember a time that I wasn’t fighting to win: from racing around to gather the most Easter eggs to fiercely destroying a piñata to get the most candy. Over the years my competitive nature found its outlet in track, cross country, and swimming. I cannot imagine a life without these activities and that is why it is a dream of mine to swim at the collegiate level.
Swimming has influenced my life in many ways. One of the things I love most about swimming is sense of family you get with the team. We share in the heartaches that life and swimming may bring as well as rejoice over triumphs. Swimming has shown me how strong I am. I have learned to manage my demanding schedule of early morning workouts, honors and AP classes, after school practices, a part time job, and my Youth Group activities. It has taught me time/self-management, discipline, and hard work. I love the challenge of constantly improving and pushing myself to be the best I can be.
I feel like I would be an asset to any team because of my desire to do whatever it takes and my dedication to help the team succeed. I feel that I am a supportive and encouraging leader who strives to excel not only athletically, but academically and in all areas of my life.
