I have swam since I was 4 years old and it has become a huge aspect of my life. I could not picture my life without it. Unfortunately I had to undergo a 6 1/2 hour back surgery to treat my scoliosis freshman year. My spine was fused with 2 metal bars and 16 screws. I was out of the water for an entire year. I can truly say I have never been more depressed than I was trying to live life without swimming. It was not easy getting back in the water after a year off, but I knew that I loved swimming too much to just give up. I worked as hard as I could to get back to where I was and put in a lot of extra hours. I am finally back to where I was and even starting to drop time and show major improvement again. Now I am asking for the opportunity to go to college and show that exact same work ethic.I always dreamed of going to the olympics as a little kid, but I obvioulsy became a little more realistic about that. I may not be going to the olympics, but having the chance to swim in college would be the greatest opportunity. I
