My name is Arianna Portella and I am a current Sophomore. I’ve been swimming since I was 6 years old on both summer and year-round swim club teams. I now also swim for my high school team. I love being in the water and I enjoy the challenge and exhilaration of the sport. Swim has taught me so many valuable life lessons too. For example, I have learned to take care of myself better especially this past year as I have had to train & work through injuries to still perform well. I managed to achieve some best times in freestyle this year! Swim has also taught me to be a strong self-advocate as well as stand up for teammates when there is injustice. Through swimming I have also gained much self confidence, patience, grit, and determination to achieve my personal goals. Waking up early at 3:45 am for 2 hour practices 6 days a week also teaches me self-discipline. I learn that hard work over time pays off and to never give up!
