I am in my junior year, and entering my tenth season of year-round competitive swim. I began my club swim with Herndon Aquatic Club from 2009 - 2018. This year I moved to York swim club where I practice 6 days a week in the morning for two hours with the Senior Group, receiving training and feedback from the head coach.
Some attributes that I feel help me stand out as a swimmer and athlete, include my dedication, tenacity, positive attitude, and that I am very coachable. Attendance is a crucial element, and I make practice attendance a priority. My parents have raised me to set my own alarm clock, so that if I don't wake up, they aren't driving me. I am an incredibly determined athlete, and keeping a positive attitude helps me tackle any obstacles. Lastly, I feel that I am a very coachable person who communicates well with my coaches and peers. After races, my coach and I will take things apart to reflect on adjustments that need to be made, and acknowledge areas of improvement. While a member of the Herndon swim club, I was very appreciative to have received the award for best work ethic and team values for two consecutive years.
Being a student athlete is not the easiest, but it's taught me a lot about balance and time management. I am pursuing the full IB Diploma. I take my academic life very seriously and enjoy challenging myself.
