Hi! My name is Olivia Welsh and I am currently a Junior at Trinity Episcopal School in Richmond, VA. I have always had a deep love for the sport of swimming, and you can almost always find me near water! Not only am I passionate and dedicated to swimming but I also strive to have the best grades I can. I would like to go to a college or university with a pharmacy school or a veterinary sciences program. I would love to be on a collegiate team that can hold a tight bond with me and always push me to do and be my best. To me, friendships and making connections to others are one of the most important things in life.
My freshman year of high school, I had the opportunity to go to regionals with my high school swim team. At regionals, I swam 200 IM and 100 Back, dropping time in both events.
The 2021-2022 was my first season but a great season. I started the season with a 50 Free SCY time of 31.02 and ended the season with a 28.37. I dropped lots of time in all my events.
Unfortunately, I was not able to do much with my high school team that year due to a severe concussion. I was out of swimming from mid October 2022-January 2023. I was fully recovered by February 2023, and was swimming the whole practice length again. After coming back from my concussion, I decided to move teams from Hanover Aquatics to NOVA of Virginia Aquatics. The transition was amazing and I have learned so much in the time I have been with NOVA.
My junior year season (2023-2024) was not one to forget! This was definitely an elite season for me concluding the season with a 57.59 100 Free SCY time! My 50 Free time dropped a lot throughout the season a lot. I ended the season with a 26.73 and I went a 26.12 in a 200 free relay at my high school states meet. I qualified for states in 2 events, 50 free and 200 free.
I believe that I stand out from others because I am very coachable and always looking for feedback and ways to better myself. I stay on task during practice and give all my effort. I am also a big fan of drylands workouts and other ways to keep my body healthy. Some things I do are ice baths, epsom salt baths, trying healthy recipes and researching things to do to help me thrive in the pool.
