Ava Whittaker '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi coaches! My name is Ava Whittaker. I started swimming when I was 6 years old and swam year-round until I was 9. When I was 9 I stopped swimming for a club but still did summer swim and moved to competitive dance. Dancing was a big part of my life from 3rd to 8th grade then I decided to try out for my high school swim team. I made the Freedom High school state team with two relays my freshman year and realized how much I missed swimming. During my sophomore year on the team, I set high goals for myself to make it to states in an individual event while not swimming for a club team. I worked hard throughout the season, had a lot of dedication to swimming outside of practice while still dancing and keeping up my grades, and ended up making states with two individual events and going to finals. After my sophomore season, I looked back on all of the bonds I created with my team and how my love for swim came back to me and I have decided to swim year-round again to hopefully take my swimming career past high school. I am now on Machine Aquatics swimming 6 days a week in the mornings and Im excited for an amazing season!
