All my life I have been a swimmer. I swim because I love it, it makes me happy. The satisfaction of pushing your body to its limits is rewarding. It has always been a dream of mine to swim in college, but I was never really sure how realistic that dream was. In High school I have been fortunate enough to be apart of an amazing team with people who push me to be the best me, not only as a swimmer but as a person too. I was chosen to be the first junior caption on my team. I have learned to be a leader, while at the same time still being true to myself. I am not a vocal person, but I find that I am a person people go to for encouragement or advise, in both swimming and other aspects of life. My team knows they can trust me and I'll do whatever I can to help.
I started to find my success in swimming freshman year when I was on both of our State relay teams, and then again as a sophomore. Junior year is when I finally made it to State not only in relays, but in an individual event as well. My goal is to make State in more than one individual event my senior year. Although it was a goal of mine to make State in an individual events, the relays are my favorite by far. Being on a relay makes me want to do better. I'm not swimming fast just for myself, but for my team. I want them to know they can count on me to do my part.
My goal, while being a part of a college team, is to continue to learn and grow as a person and as a swimmer.
