Maia Cunningham '17 Recruiting Profile

I'm Maia, a hard working and dedicated student athlete who loves a challenge. I am always looking to improve both in and out of the pool. Swimming has always been a huge part of my life. I started competing at the age of 8, and haven't stopped since. I swim on the Vashon Seals Swim Team, a small Level 1 swim team on Vashon Island, where I live. I currently practice 9 hours a week, which is divided over 3 practices. Ever since I found my love for swimming, having the opportunity to swim in college has been a dream of mine. If I could find a college to accommodate both my passion for swimming and my academically driven personality, that would be ideal.

 I am very academically driven with my 3.97 collective GPA and 7 honors classes. I am currently a sophomore at Bellarmine Preparatory School, a Jesuit high school in Tacoma, Washington. Bellarmine has opened doors and given me opportunities to play a part in my community and explore new interests. I am involved in multiple community service projects such as L'arche Club, Operation Keep em Warm & fed, and Phoenix Housing. I am looking to major a math or science department once I'm in college.
