Coming from a small town, swimming hasn’t necessarily been a priority for my school. Many times, swimming is dismissed as a sport. However, I've learned how to persevere to accomplish my goals and have fun while doing it, despite outside influences telling me I can't. I am a strong swimmer that strives to be better each day. I bring a positive attitude to each practice, ensuring I push myself as hard as I can each practice. I have been around the water ever since I could walk. However, it wasn’t in a competitive pool until I was 8 years old. From there I made my first state time at 10 years old. I always looked up to the older kids, wanting to be faster than them. I continued to push myself, eventually beating all the older kids. I found my passion for swimming and realized my competitive drive to be better each day.
Out of the pool, I have started noticing how much dryland can affect my performance. Over the course of the last few years, I have competed in track. Running and focusing on my other strengths helped me become a better swimmer. Currently, I am in a dryland program that is 6 days a week for 45 minutes each day. To improve myself more, in the summer I will be commuting at least 1 hour to swim practice each day. In school, I am currently taking advanced classes and maintaining a 4.0 GPA, in order to start taking AP classes next year. I am also in many extracurriculars. Outside of school and the pool, I enjoy spending time outdoors or with my family. Anywhere from the relaxation of a campfire to the thrill of downhill skiing, I love to do it all. When I’m not not outside, traveling, or spending time with the important people in my life, I snuggle up with a good book and can read for hours. I have many different interests and am always ready to learn something new or try something new.
