Hi, my name is Grace Radke and I love to swim. I started real competitive swim in 6th grade and have loved every second of it. This year I experienced my first high school season and it was everything I had imaged. I loved the bus rides to meets, the team cheers, and team bonding parties. It was a very different dynamic from my club team. I hope to be a team captain when I am a senior. I also want to break the 100 fly and 200 free records. This year we were conference champs, it was the most unreal feeling when I heard our team name over the loudspeaker in first place. I hope to continue to hold that title for the rest of my high school career.
This year I was fortunate to be able to compete at speedo sectionals in Rochester, MN. This was an eye-opening experience to be able to compete against the best swimmers from more than just Wisconsin. It also taught me to be accountable for my swims and how I take care of my body during a meet because I had no parents with me. Another goal of mine is to qualify for the speedo sectional meet this upcoming summer.
Swim has taught me great time management and has given me life long friends. Being a student-athlete is not for everyone but I enjoy it. I completed my first semester of high school with straight A's and I continue to exceed at my academics.
