Our Women's Varsity Tennis season has ended. I played 27 matches for the Sage Creek Varsity Tennis Team and I won 19 out of them (2 matches are not posted yet).
I was able to improve my UTR to 3.74 (1.66 increase from UTR 2.08, which I had at the beginning of the season (end of August)).
I received the Scholar Athlete award at the end of the season. My current GPA is 4.6 (4.0 unweighted), I am taking two AP and one Honors classes this year, and my grade in all of the classes is either A or A+.
Our Women's Tennis Team has a UTR 28.53 power of 6, and I am proud that my personal UTR contributes to the Teams' UTR.
This season, our Team played in the Open League, first time in the school's history. We had an incredible season, taking 6th place (out of 91 high schools) in all of San Diego and 3rd place in The Coastal League. I am extremely happy for our Team; Coach Betsey and I are very proud that I had a chance to make a meaningful contribution to the team's success.
I am continue training with my private coach, Coach Juan Garcia, on a weekly basis, and will be able to start taking clinics again, since team practices are over. I will also continue playing UTR Verified Events 2-4 times a month to continue building my UTR.
On the academic side, I just completed CS50's course at edX that I started in the summer and began the Game Development pathway today. As the final project at CS50, I built several dynamic website features based on the Javascript and CSS for the professional skincare brand, DefenAge, where I've been working as a marketing intern since 2020.
September 2021 update:
I made it on the varsity team and just won all five of my first singles matches of the season! Detailed update is coming!
May 2021:
I’m a fluid, strategic, and highly analytical player comfortable on any position on the court. As the game progresses, I’m constantly analyzing my opponent and refining a strategy. I am very consistent in placing the ball and using a wide array of strategic solutions that I acquired over the course of my tennis career. I'm currently working to improve my serves and training to be able to receive high speed/powerful volleys. I've loved being on my school’s tennis team, although I am frustrated that I’m not able to play for varsity because of senior players’ priority, and, for two years in a row, there have been more incoming seniors than available spots on the varsity team. I was a doubles player during my freshman season and as a sophomore, I got assigned as a singles player, where I won almost every match I played.
Academically, I have a proficient methodical thought process; I’m determined to evolve this ability to a maximum capacity and committed to making a meaningful contribution to technological advances. I grew up in an academic household; I'm passionate about my education. I aim to attend a university with advanced STEM majors since mathematics and programming are my favorite topics to discover and learn. For the second year in a row, I am taking summer advancement courses in history to make space during the school year for an elective programming course and AP Psychology.
