Being the youngest child of three children, I spent my early years going to all of my brothers sporting events. I became interested in tennis when my dad was coaching my brother's High School team. I guess you could say I was the team's "ball girl" and being that I was always there, my dad began working with me also. I feel my persistence and determination might make me different than other recruits. Porterville is a community in which tennis facilities are very limited. There is not a tennis club here and I have had to travel out of town to get coaching and set up matches with higher level players. I have been playing in USTA tournaments in Northern Caifornia. I have spent many hours traveling to tournaments. What some players may take for granted, I am very aware of the inconveniences and sacrifices my parents have made for me because of the limited resources we have here in Porterville.
I am a hard worker and I am always looking for ways to improve my game. Being the daughter of two teachers, I know how important a college education is. At this time I am interested in pursuing physical therapy or something to do with health and nutrition. My college goal is to be able to play tennis while obtaining a higher academic degree.
