I am Eirene (Rena) Granville a sixteen year old Junior attending Inderkum High School located in Sacramento, California. My goal is to obtain a Pre-Medical Degree from a DI, DII, or DIII College or University and to successfully compete as a member of the Women’s Tennis Team.
I truly love playing tennis! My junior tennis development began at four years of age and has included USTA Northern California Section Rankings within the “Top Ten” in the Girls’10 - 14 age divisions. Currently, I am ranked 19th in the Girl’s 16 Northern California Section.
At age 12, I attended the UCLA Youth Tennis Camp and won “Best Girl Player.” That same year I placed second in the Nike Juniors Sectional Tournament (Girls 12 Division). As one of the top ranked USTA girls in Northern California I have been selected to attend Zonals in Arizona (Girls 12) and Colorado (Girls 14). These were truly great experiences. Presently, I train approximately 15 hours a week, (including private coaching) at the JMG Tennis Academy located at Arden Hills Country Club in Sacramento, CA, under Joseph M. Gilbert.
In 2013, I competed in the ITA Summer Circuit Tournament held at the University of California, Davis and placed second in the Consolation Final. This was a great opportunity to test my skills against other college players. In July 2013, I was selected to represent Northern California’s Rio Del Oro Racquetball Club as a team member in the “Billie Jean King” WTT Junior Nationals held in San Diego, California. It was an extreme honor to play in front of Ms. King.
I have played on the Inderkum High School tennis team for the last two seasons (2012-2014) and have played the number one position both seasons. I have been selected as the Sacramento Region All City Athlete for the last two seasons (2012-2014) and was selected as the CIF League MVP for the 2013-2014 season. Lastly, I’ve won the CIF Sac Joaquin Sectional Singles Championships for Division II Girls’ for the last two seasons (2012-2014) finishing both seasons undefeated, 38-0.
As much as I love tennis, my academics are equally important. Since my freshman year in high school I have taken honors courses in English, History, and Science, and have been on the Honor Roll for the last two years. My cumulative High School GPA is 3.5. Currently, I am enrolled in Advanced Placement courses in English and History.
In addition, I have played the flute since I was 10 years old. Currently, I play the flute and the tuba in the Inderkum High School Marching and Concert Band for last three years and have been involved in band competitions throughout Northern California.
In conclusion, my desire is to become a USTA Nationally Ranked Top 100 player during the next calendar year. My current training and the selection of future tennis tournaments are designed to accomplish this goal. My academic goal is to score 1800 points or higher on the SAT Exam and to maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the duration of my high school career. I have set the above goals and objectives to demonstrate my commitment and desire to play and be a positive contribution to a college Women’s Tennis program. My experience demonstrates my ability to manage all my responsibilities while achieving success on and off the court.
