My name is Katie Long and I am a senior at Rio Americano High School in Sacramento, CA. I am very interested in attending a challenging university and playing on a competitive tennis team. My academic interests include biopsychology and political communications. My dream is to complete college proficient in my chosen field and accomplished as a high level tennis competitor.
I went to San Diego for a World Team Tennis tournament last year, where I met and chatted with Billy Jean King. Earlier on, I played soccer, basketball, and volleyball, danced in a ballet company, and for fun and in school played guitar, piano, trumpet, and tenor saxophone, which I continue to enjoy. My current USTA ranking is 17 in NorCal; 235 nationally; 47 in the southwest; and 43 in California.
High school has been a huge growing experience. I have worked hard at developing good study habits and organizational skills. I have taken honors and A.P. classes every year, as well as completing Civitas honors classes. My biggest thrill has been completing projects with classmates and competing with team members, which I look forward to in college.
I currently train at the Spare Time Elite Academy. My current coach is the head tennis pro there. His name is Rich Andrews, 916-337-7780, and can be contacted at [email protected].
