I am really proud of myself for making huge strides in my tennis game this year! I achieved this by setting goals for myself, focusing on strategy and development with my coach, and applying new skills to my tennis matches. Over time I was able to raise my UTR to over a 10.00 and gain experience playing deep into tournaments. I learned the most through my losses and analyzing how to be more effective the next time. This experience helped me grow as a person and I became more match tough overall. It took me several times to beat certain styles of players, but that was okay because I really wanted to challenge myself to become a solid overall player.
One of the best experiences so far this year was being selected for the BG16 So.Cal Zonal Team in Salt Lake City. I not only made the team but was selected to play position 1 for my team. Throughout the week of Zonals I learned the value of teamwork, sportsmanship and felt a real sense of comradery with my team mates. It was amazing when we took 2nd place overall!
Some recent USTA National tournament results include winning the G14s in both the Spearman Clubs Classic National L3 in Irvine, CA and the USTA National L2 in Grand Rapids, MI. I realized my hard work and dedication was paying off when when I was seeded for the first time in the main draw of the USTA G14 National Hard Court Championships over the summer. I know I still have a lot to learn and am looking forward continuing my tennis journey and hope to play for an amazing college team some day. Tennis is my passion and I love to play!
