I have been interested in tennis since I was a little kid. I would go to those classes for little kids where you learn how to bounce a ball on your racket and run across the court without falling flat on your face. However, everything changed after I started playing competitively when I was 11 years old. For a time, everything was perfectly normal... my wins were largely valued and I took my losses in stride. Then, there was one year where it really felt like the world was against me in terms of my tennis. I lost more matches than I would like to count and there were moments when I almost froze from fear before going on the tennis court. However, this is one experience I would not ever want to lose. There is a quote made by Walt Disney. It says, “The difference between winning and losing is most often not quitting”. To me, this reveals that no matter where my tennis takes me and no matter what obstacles I face, I will be able to overcome it, because that’s who I am. I’m a fighter and a leader. I don’t follow the rules, I make them. And I know for a fact if given the opportunity to be on your team, I won’t let it go.
