Hello! My name is Catherine and I am a proud member of the Glastonbury High School Class of 2022! College is right around the corner and my plan is to study Biology and Neuroscience and play III Tennis. I started playing tennis when I was five years old at a Parks and Recreation day camp. At the time, I was also experimenting with different sports (soccer and gymnastics) but in the end tennis became my passion. Throughout my twelve-year tennis career, I have trained with numerous coaches, competed at various levels (USTA, High School and Club tennis), and presently work as a Junior Tennis Coach. One obstacle that I had to overcome took place in my freshman year. A month before the start of the high school tennis season I slipped and fell in my driveway, chipping the thumb bone in my right hand (dominant playing hand). This injury did not keep me down ~ the next day I was back on the tennis court training using my left hand. I was able to start the season at Singles #3, and after I was cleared by the doctor, I moved up to Singles #1. At the end of the season, I qualified for both team and individual play at the state championship. Perseverance, hard work, positive mind set and love of the game drove me to obtain my goal!
