Noelle Faber '23 Recruiting Profile

I was born in Shanghai, China in 2004 and moved to Singapore in 2008 where I lived until January 2022 when I moved to Bradenton, Florida to attend IMG Academy. I am an American citizen and Singapore permanent resident. I attended local Singapore schools until 9th grade when I switched to the American school system at SAS. I have a younger sister Nadia, two Siamese cats Taka & Milo, and my parents Bob & Elizabeth.

Characteristics to describe me include responsible, organized, a team player, competitive, and Christian. 

My strengths in tennis: 

1. Ability to grind it out during long matches
2. Sportsmanship and ethics in match play
3. Experience playing long matches in equatorial heat and humidity (training base in Singapore)
4. Support for the team and doing what the team needs from me for the greater good
5. Can partner well with a wide variety of doubles partners (even those who don't speak English)
6. Can play on all surfaces - hard, clay, and grass. ‘Home’ tennis academy has both clay and hardcourt

My development opportunities in tennis: 

1. Sleep is important to me, but I get restless the night before a big match or exam
2. Starting with intensity when playing lower-ranked opponent

In addition to tennis, in Singapore I was very involved in my church, Orchard Road Presbyterian Church. I was the youngest member of the Youth Core Team led by the youth pastor. A lot of my free time was devoted to my church, planning out activities for the ~100 members of the entire youth congregation (ages 13-19). In the past, I have helped with ushering during services.

I went on a mission trip to Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 2019 with my church to teach young children Bible stories, lead worship, and sing songs. I also went on a mission trip to Chiang Rai, Thailand in 2017 with my prior tennis coach and other players to spread the Gospel and teach tennis to rural students.
