Samantha Vail-Gomez '27 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Samantha Vail-Gomez. I am the daughter of two hard-working and loving parents. I have been playing tennis since I was 8 years old on and off and became determined to play college tennis when I was 12. My passion for tennis is abundant and brings so much joy to me. I honestly do not know where I would be in life without it. It's such a beautiful sport that I can't put it into words because of how inexplicable it is. If I could play tennis every second, I would. It's hard to dream big in a small town though where everyone thinks your head is up in the clouds and that you should be more realistic. But I believe that if Serena Williams and Venus Williams could do it, I could too possibly. Like Gauff said,"Always dream big, and don't let anyone limit your dreams because the possibilities are endless".

 I plan to become an anesthesiologist, so I can financially support my parents when they retire for all their support in my journey to get where I am. Especially, after all the struggles they have endured to maintain my love for the sport. I was lucky enough to have an older sister who shared the same interest of tennis as me and has done everything she could do to progress in our rural town. Academically, I have the highest average GPA at my school for the class of 2027. I strive to do the best I can in school and try to balance my work with tennis. I was 3rd singles for my high school's varsity tennis team this year, and I am the only freshman who played on the team in general.
