Personal Statement
My name is Mala Krzanic, I started playing tennis around the age of 7, where I trained socially. Since then I have competed competitively since I was 11, when I first got selected to play at representative level. I have loved tennis since the first time I pick up a racquet, and ive know that I wanted to play at a collegiate level since. Its a amazing opportunity for my tennis to improve and my academics to reach the next level.
On the tennis court, my biggest strength is my serve, its speed and strength, and my heigh advantage I have over other players. I have the advantage of my height which adds to my athleticism, helping me get ontop of my serve and reach for balls that some people may not be able to. I consider myself very coachable as I’m open to all learnings and advice, as I want to become the best tennis player possible. I am able to adapt and pick up new knowledge and skills very easily. I am also extremely competitive, love learning new things. I consider myself a perfectionist, so you can expect nothing but determination from me.
I carry these diligent tendencies into the classroom as well. I also take the time to become involved in school and its community and take part in coaching junior netball teams, where I have gained communication and teamwork skills.
I work year round on tennis with private lessons, squads and tournaments. During summer I compete at number 1 for my school premier tennis team, where I have achieved many accolades. I also compete in club singles, and doubles for 4 seperate teams at different levels. In winter I compete in club singles and doubles for 2 seperate teams.
I am looking for a college that has a environment that will challenge me in class and on court to take me to the next level as my college years go on. I consider my team skills one of my strong qualities as I have played netball (a team sport) since the age of 5, where I have learnt to work with other in a team environment. My communication skills are also one of my strong qualities as one of my hobbies is coaching multiple junior players in tennis to become the best they can, and also coaching a junior netball team at my school. Finally I consider time management to be one of my strongest qualities as I have been able to balance sports, school and social interactions quite well. while also coaching multiple junior players in both tennis and netball
Lastly, I am not set on my major, but am very interested in mainly business, sports management, but also have interest in anything relating to law or architecture.
I am open to all options and want to ultimately play at the highest level I can, so that I can reach my fullest potential as a tennis player.
Thank you!
