Personal Statement
Hi coaches! I am going into my senior year of high school (Grade 12) and I am currently living in South Africa. I started playing tennis when I was about 8 years old for the fun of it, when a coach came up to my parents and told them I have great potential. Ever since then I have been working hard on the tennis court and enjoying the game I was made to play. I have two private coaches that I am working with at the moment and I train 5 days a week for about 8-10 hours. On weekends I play competitive tournaments to improve my national ranking and my UTR. My ultimate goal would be to finish my studies in America at a Division 2 college, and potentially live there afterwards. The main reason why I want to achieve this goal is due to limited job opportunities and lack of good education in South Africa. My country is struggling and I am simply seeking the opportunity to create a better future for myself. My best intangibles are my listening skills, work ethic and dependability. I would like to consider myself as dependable because I take commitments seriously and follow through with my obligations. I have a strong work ethic and prefer to work hard in order to complete tasks thoroughly. I value rules and traditions, and am good at following protocols to ensure stability and consistency. Some might even call me a ''goody-two-shoes'' type of girl. Lastly, while tennis is considered an individual sport, I love being part of a team. I am excited to see how my path to college unravels and I am willing to take on any obstacles that get in my way.
