Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Eloïse and here’s my story. I picked up a tennis raquet when I was barely 3 years old and have spent countless hours on the court with my dad. When I turned 6 I joined the lone local club on the island and practiced with boys, still putting in a lot of extra hours with my dad. By the age of 13 it was obvious that I had to leave Saint-Pierre & Miquelon and join a tennis academy if I wanted to keep moving forward and get better. In September 2017 I moved to Villeneuve-Loubet, in France, and became a full time student at the Team Daniel Contet International Tennis Academy. I have practiced15/20 hours + / week for 4 years getting ready for what I hope to be a great adventure.
For my last year in France I moved to a new Academy near Montpellier, in Sète, at the Campus Tennis Nicolas Brun. In this facility I was able to play more practice matches, train specifically to compete and make huge progress tactically and mentally to get ready for my arrival in the USA. Due to COVID 19, I have not been able to play in an official tournament in France since late 2019 and I am really looking forward to go back there for the summer to be able to raise my ranking when things hopefully get back to normal. I am as of now 5/6 in the FFT french ranking system.
As a high school senior specialized in social studies and political science, I got my Baccalaureat with honors from the French Education system in July 2021. Also, I did pass my TOEFL exam and got a 94.
My goal has been clear from the start: I want to play tennis in the USA for the best and most competitive University possible. Education is a priority for me, as is tennis. I hope to someday be able to compete in the WTA and although I realize the road is long and there are no guarantees, I believe in my potential and I am willing to work hard at it. I am learning day after day to use my power, my lefty serve, my forehand... to finish points at the net... to develop the discipline and skills required to become the best possible... and I am always looking for that University that will help me to become the best player I can be. I am also a team player and try to help my peers as best as I can to make the most of each day.
Tennis has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I have also been a good student. It is therefore natural for me to be pursuing my dream of becoming the best player / person I can be. The opportunity offered by the USA Universities is without a doubt my best chance to succeed. I feel honored and privileged to have obtained a scholarship to play for and represent an NCAA DII University for the 2021/22 school year. I remain open to new offers at the DII and DI level.
This past school year allowed me to get more competitive experience as I competed as a Senator with the Davis & Elkins College. I will be back this fall, for my 2nd year, after a summer trip to France to play a few tournaments. My plans are to be as ready as I can and make a name for myself at the DII level this year.
Thank you for your time.
Always looking forward to hearing from you, best regards.
