Personal Statement
My name is Victoria Lecerf, I am seventeen years old. I am graduating this June and I am looking to apply to a US university for the Fall of 2018 or January 2019, with the hope of joining a Tennis team.
Some of my biggest accomplishments as a player were winning the Paris Championship twice and playing at Roland Garros for the French National Junior Championship.
Currently, I am ranked as the 3rd best player in the 17-18 age range in Paris. My French ranking is 1/6. I was very close to being 0 as I have beaten players ranked 0 but I was not able to do enough matches. I have been playing at the Tennis Club de Paris (TCP) for the past eight years. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to be coached by several of the best tennis coaches in French history, such as Thierry Champion (former coach of Gasquet and Monfils) and Jean-Christophe Faurel (current coach of Mannarino).
Since I was eight years old, I have traveled throughout France as I played singles and doubles for the League of Paris and for my high school. I also participate every year in the interclub championship throughout the country. I have been fortunate enough to face off against some of the top-ranked teams annually.
I have always enjoyed playing as a team and know I can compete at the level expected in collegiate competition. I am a dedicated tennis player on the court as well as off the court. I am an Honor Roll student, so going to a US college would be a tremendous opportunity to combine academics and my love of tennis in the next few years of my life, as it is not even possible in France.
I already took the TOEFL, scoring 97, and am currently preparing for the SAT. I hope my scores will be good enough to make me eligible to play at your school. I am considering taking the TOEFL again in order to improve my score.
