Personal Statement
My name is Sofia and I am an international student from Russia, currently living in Thailand. I have been playing tennis since 6 and participating in tournaments since 11.
I am a hard working, high-motivated, ambitious and responsible tennis player. I have a lot of experience playing in many individual and team events, that helped me to learn to accommodate fast as well as made me a great teammate. I had many challenges such as injuries or financial struggles throughout my career, however I never gave up on my goals and dreams. My highest singles ranking in Russia was 72 nationally and 2nd in state (U18). In 2018 I became a member of the Republic of Mordovia tennis team and had to move alone to a different city to continue playing tennis. My state participated in the Russian National Team Championship every year and we were constantly ranked among top-10 states nationally. In January 2022 I moved to Phuket, Thailand and currently ranked #33 (U18) in the country.
I have good time-management skills and I am able to push myself not only on the tennis court, but in the classroom as well. I was able to graduate school in Russia with a perfect GPA in just 10 years, which afterwards helped me to get into UWC Thailand. I want to continue excelling on the tennis court as well as in the classroom and join a D1 college tennis team. I will be able to bring to the team my experience, passion and aggressive tennis style as well as to become a great teammate.
