Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Anicka Janse van Resnburg. My goal is to study Marketing management or International relations and affairs while playing college tennis in the USA in 2021. I love hard work. I’m a very positive and motivated person that doesn’t mind any challenges. I especially like tennis because it’s the reason why I have such a good mindset. I would say time management is definitely one of my top skills because I’m always on court but I still prioritize and make time for my academics. I also think that I would be an excellent candidate for the team because I’m driven and have a strong endurance. I don’t start something without finishing it.
My grandpa, dad and my sisters played tennis and I couldn’t wait to finally start playing tennis as well. At age 6 I started playing tennis and I loved every single thing about it till this day. My dream was initially to become the next Maria Sharapova but over the years I realized I wanted to use my talent to rather get a tennis scholarship and open more doors and opportunities for myself in the USA.
I also have a lot of experience. I started playing tournaments at age 8 all around South Africa. At age 11 I had the opportunity to go to Spain for a couple of weeks and played tennis at the JC Ferrero sport academy. In 2015 at age 13 I had another opportunity to play tennis overseas and attended Club Med Tennis academy in Florida. I played First Team tennis in High School for 5 years in a row. In 2018 at age 16 I attended IMG academy in Florida where I gained so much and improved my tennis, mindset and endurance to another level. Playing College tennis and studying in the USA is my ultimate dream.
